Air Conditioner Keeps Turning Off: Causes and Solutions

2. The timer is activated

3. The filters are too dirty

4. The outdoor unit is overheating

When this happens, the system may switch off automatically to protect the compressor.

Make sure the outdoor unit is not blocked by furniture, plants, objects, dirt or fallen leaves. There should also be enough space around it for air to circulate correctly.

5. The evaporator has frozen

If the system has poor airflow, dirty filters or a refrigerant problem, ice may form inside the indoor unit.

When the evaporator freezes, the air conditioner may lose cooling power, blow less air and eventually switch off as a safety measure.

6. There is an electrical supply problem
